Way to go everyone! Here's a couple of quick pics of both the calendar I used to track my progress (I taped it up by my front door to ensure I saw it EVERY day) and the other is my motivation for the core work - the golf swing :)

Congratulations to all of you who have participated in this challenge - hopefully you have applied the Day1 Philosophy and recharged your motivation each day understanding that while this was a 31 day challenge, you really only had to take it day by day, Day1 by Day1!

Way to go!

Quick update to my 30 day challenge. One of my challenge elements was to spread the word about Day1 and generate new membership. Last night I went to the "Idols Live" concert with friends and struck up conversation with a few people behind us about social networking and the benefits of this site. It is amazing how interested people become. No new members that I see yet, but it is great to see their enthusiasm (maybe its a reflection of my enthusiasm).

Side note: if the Idols Live show is touring in a city near you, check it out. There is some great talent and the music gets you moving and up off your seat.

Like I said, Have to play catch up.
Goals:
Minimum 30 minutes of cardio or Yoga 3 times a week. Walking, kayaking, biking at least once a week. Walking with my Grandson twice a week - and playing, running, crawling, laughing on the floor with him!
Ab crunches every day.
More fruit and vegies, less carbs.
Should result in the fitness level and weight loss I am looking for!
Thanks for the motivation!!!!

So here we go!!!!! Honestly, I actually missed July 1st but I guess since I am Canadian I will provide the excuse that it was Canada day for me, a holiday, so I took it. Now no more excuses for the rest of the month!!!
Here are my goals:
1) Get on the elliptical everyday for 25-30 mins, hopefully burning on average approx 300-350 calories.
2) Get in a good ab workout daily (with a min of 150 sit-ups, vary the ab routine day to day)
3) Take a 20-30 min walk with my dog and my son every morning!
4) Eat healthier everyday (increase fruits, veggies and fish, limit treats to one small dessert a day, I do deserve one I think :-)
5) Have fun doing it. I am excited for our challenge.

One of my clients who happens to be a physical trainer used a quote today that I kind of liked, he said..."True enjoyment comes from activity of the mind and exercise of the body, the two are united." I couldn't agree more.

Good luck everyone!!!!

Wow, there are some great goals posted already. Here are mine:

1. Break a sweat (exercising, not stressing) at least three times a week
2. Get 3 new members to join the Day1 community - hopefully the benefits are contagious
3. Improve my cardio through a mix of machines, trails, and treks

Today is Day1 of the challenge and so far I can make my first big "X" on the calendar. I made it to the gym for a good leg workout... and probably won't be able to walk tomorrow. My spirits are rising already.

Goal: 1 hour of cardio everyday.

30 Days. That is such a small fraction of my life, which makes me feel that this goal should be acheivable. I can do it! Here I go on my Day 1 bike ride (for at least an hour!)

hi there! My 30 Day Challenge goals are about dance:

1. Practice dancing (improvisation or my choreography) at home for at least five minutes every day.
2. Improve dance technique by drilling "the basics" at home 15-20 minutes 3x per week. (locks, shimmies, figure 8s, belly-work)

Ciao for now!

Bring on the month of July! As I'm now returning to more 'normal' activity coming off of knee surgery such as biking and golfing, I'm noticing that my CORE strength is not where it should be...to avoid injury and any further potential setbacks - my challenge goal will be:

Abs:
Complete 100 Sit-Ups per day for July (these may be broken up throughout the day, just as long as I hit 100)

Lower Back:
Pelvic Tilt: lower back stretching exercise (also strengthens abs)

Lie on back, knees bent, feet flat on floor. Tighten buttocks and abdomen, flattening small of back against the floor. Hold for a count of five. Slowly relax. Repeat fifteen times.

Cheers!
Jonathan

The Day1 + 30 Day Fitness Challenge was hatched from member activity in the Group "Making Exercise a Daily Habit" and is being brought to you to motivate you to set any fitness goal for the month of July. By choosing a goal, downloading the calendar, placing the calendar in a highly visible spot - you are set to cross off each day after you achieve your goal...the theory is that as you see momentum building you will be inspired to see your goal through to the end - Day1 by Day1

Go ahead and post your goal below and let's see just how many we can track for the month of July!
