Welcome to the "Members MOTIVATING Members" challenge - a challenge where Day1 members (that's you) post challenges for other members to try something new.

The format is simple: come up with a challenge, post your challenge and encourage others to take it up. Break down your challenge and include the duration - The Day1 Team will spice things up by sending out Day1 swag (tshirts, water bottles etc.) to those early adopters of a challenge! Post pictures of you and your swag for bonus Karma points!!!

Example:
10 Minute Yoga Challenge - I find great value in practicing daily yoga poses, be it at gym or in my own family room, yoga helps me relax while conditioning my body. I challenge you to find 10 MINUTES a day for 10 Days to practice Yoga! If you are not familiar with Yoga, look it up on youtube or post any questions here and I'll reply :)

Help MOTIVATE others TODAY!

Viva La Tour de France! As a big fan of following the Tour de France and amazed at the ability of the professional cyclists ability to race 2,260 miles in 3 straight weeks - I'm going to do my own little tour: TDDVR "Tour de DVR" and will be spinning on my trainer while watching the recorded stages. While I won't be competing with a full team and charging up the Alps, it will be motivating to pedal while watching the coverage and amazing terrain they will cover.

Ok - MSN.com is bringing my next challenge, thanks MSN! From the recent article, "How Fit Are You? No, Really" I am going to focus on the following four areas and see how I measure up: Core / Upper Body / Flexibility / Balance.

The article does a great job of explaining exercises, providing range for scoring yourself and ideas on how to improve - most all of which you can do at home!

So who has a challenge for this week, looking for something 6/14-6/20....what will it be?
Candy Comment by Candy on June 7, 2010 at 9:32pm
Oh you guys! Now I am going to have to make time for TV. And I can't DVR it if I am going to do sit ups during the commercials. I will give it a try. Really the only time I get AB work right now is in yoga. So.....Gotta go watch some TV.
As far as the ADD goes, I think anyone can be borderline at any given time. Multi-tasking and busy lives tend to encourage it! Interesting site, Bryce. I took a couple of the 'tests'. Kinda fun.

I'd like to propose a challenge for the brain: Take an opportunity this week to learn something about yourself.

Last week I was was mentally bouncing around like a pinball among numerous projects and tasks at work. For some time I have wondered if I was 25 year younger if I would be lumped in with the growing population of kids with ADD. Curious to find out more about how my brain works, I completed an online diagnostic and found that, at worst, I am boarderline - no need to rush off to the psychiatrist and get a prescription.

It's been a while since I took any type of personality diagnostic, so that was my next stop - interesting findings that I will share later this week as I continue to learn more about myself.

Awesome 'sit up' news, Jonathan!! Way to go!

I've been on and off with the situps, but it's still more than what I would have done otherwise! :-) Gonna do a modified (belly dance) lower ab sort of sit ups tonight before crashing.

I've done more sittups this week than I have in the past 2 months! I think tha'ts a good great thing =) Glad to see you're knocking them out as well Rita!
Cheers,
Jonathan

Cool re the stretch instruction Jonathan! I've done this stretch before and the vid was a good reminder for me about keeping shoulders down. Thanks for posting.

I did a boat load of sit ups in dance class, and I will do a few more now (in 1 commercial) just before I crash. I'm going to do a pelvic tilt version of the sit up. My lower abs need more focus bc as I dance I already fire my upper abs to initiate the movement first ... need the lower abs to join the party more now.

Awesome Rita! I've been at it myself, and kinda shocked at how many sittups I end up doing in trade of spacing out during commercials. I've been finishing each session with the following stretch:

Cheers,
Jonathan

T.V. Challenge:
I challenge YOU to do as many sittups as you can while you watch your favorite TV show(s) each night for 5 Days. When the commercials come on, get on the floor and do those crunches! Don't be worried about posting how many you can do...just the fact that you are accepting and participating in the challenge (might be fun to share what T.V. program you're watching too). Goal is that by the end of the week you will feel stronger in your core without the excuse of "I have no/little time for exercise"...who's with me?
